The Hong Kong SPCA reported the videos to Hong Kong police, who said they would ask Threads and YouTube to remove the footage. After criticism that removal would weaken pressure for accountability, the SPCA apologised for how it handled the matter and cancelled its Flag Day fundraiser scheduled for 18 July.
