Okha is an elderly elephant still being used in traveling entertainment. Animal-protection organizations including CompassionWorks International and PETA are campaigning for her retirement to a reputable elephant sanctuary and have documented 2026 performances and rides. Claims about historical treatment should remain attributed to the organizations making them unless independently documented.
Beyond a petition: a concrete freedom plan
Determine who has legal ownership and authority to transfer Okha.
Identify an accredited/reputable elephant sanctuary willing and able to accept her.
Obtain a written voluntary transfer or negotiated acquisition agreement rather than raising money without a release commitment.
Raise restricted funds for veterinary assessment, specialized transport, permits and lifetime sanctuary care.
If the owner will not transfer her, support lawful regulatory complaints, documented public advocacy and venue pressure while keeping a funded sanctuary placement ready.
QUA4U goal: retirement and transfer to sanctuary, not merely petition signatures.
